Sex Dungeon

Kelly Galloup's Sex Dungeon is one of the most famous articulated streamer patterns ever created, and a staple in the boxes of serious streamer anglers on rivers like the Missouri, Madison, and Au Sable. Its articulated design creates an irresistible S-curve action on the retrieve. The mix of marabou, schlappen, and rubber legs creates a fly with extraordinary movement at all retrieve speeds. Cast to banks, logs, and undercuts and strip aggressively.

  • thread: White or yellow 140D
  • tail: White/yellow marabou (4 matched feathers)
  • body: Schlappen hackle, palmered
  • legs: Barred silicon rubber legs
  • wing: Marabou collar and head

Tying steps

  1. Build the rear section on a size 4 B10S hook: tie in 4 matching white or yellow marabou feathers as the tail.
  2. Palmer a white or yellow schlappen hackle forward over the rear shank; add barred rubber legs.
  3. Complete the rear hook and connect to the front hook via 40lb braid or wire.
  4. On the front size 2 B10S hook, build a body of marabou and schlappen forward.
  5. Add 3–4 pairs of barred silicon rubber legs along the body.
  6. Create a large marabou head at the front; add flash throughout.
  7. Build a thread head; coat with UV resin for durability.
  8. Apply UV resin to the thread head and collar; cure and inspect that all connections are secure.
