Lefty's Deceiver
Lefty Kreh's Deceiver transformed streamer fishing by creating a long, realistic baitfish silhouette without bulk — the six saddle hackles in the tail splay naturally in the water and collapse on the cast. While primarily a saltwater pattern, it is devastating for large lake-run trout, tiger trout, and big brown trout in river systems. The profile can be adjusted by varying the hackle color combination.

Materials
- hook: Saltwater streamer hook #1–4
- thread: White 6/0
- tail: Six white saddle hackles with Krystal Flash
- belly: White bucktail, extending slightly past bend
- flash: Pearl Flashabou or Krystal Flash
- wing: Olive, gray, or blue bucktail over top
Tying steps
- Mount a size 1–4 saltwater streamer hook; start white thread at the bend.
- Select 6 matched white saddle hackles and 4 strands of Krystal Flash; tie them at the bend.
- Wrap thread forward to the 2/3 mark; tie in a bunch of white bucktail as the belly, extending to the tail.
- Add 4–6 strands of pearl Flashabou over the belly.
- Tie in olive, gray, or blue bucktail over the top as the back.
- Wind red thread or dubbing just behind the eye to simulate gills.
- Attach stick-on prismatic eyes and seal with epoxy or UV resin.
- Build a smooth head and coat with UV resin for durability.
