Jujubee Midge
The Jujubee Midge is a slim, segmented midge larva imitation that works on the most technical tailwaters when fish have seen everything else. Its two-tone thread body creates perfect segmentation, and the CDC post makes it easy to see when fished just below the surface. Developed for the South Platte, it works on any tailwater where trout selectively feed on small midges.

Materials
- hook: Curved larva hook #18–22
- thread: Black and white 10/0 (alternated for segmentation)
- body: Black and white thread alternated
- thorax: Black thread, fuller
- post: Small white CDC or poly yarn (optional indicator)
Tying steps
- Mount a size 18–22 curved larva hook; start black 10/0 thread at the bend.
- Wrap 3 black thread wraps then 3 white thread wraps alternating forward in segments to the 3/4 mark.
- Repeat the alternating pattern building a segmented two-tone body.
- Wind a slightly heavier thread thorax of all-black thread just behind the eye.
- Optionally tie in a tiny white CDC tuft as an indicator post above the thorax.
- Build a tiny head, whip finish, and apply thin UV resin over the entire body.
- Apply UV resin over the entire segmented body and cure under UV light for a high-gloss finish.
- Inspect the segmentation from the side — each black and white band should be clearly distinct and of equal width.
- Inspect the segmented body from the side — each color band should be exactly 2 thread wraps wide and perfectly uniform along the entire hook shank.
